Tired-ish when I got home and felt like just heating something up. But presence of fresh meat and veg in the fridge kept me from doing so. A bean and sausage ragout with tomoatoes, kale, and zucchini is currently on the stove, waiting completion. Later in the week, there should be Scottish mince and tatties, with maybe some kale and garlic; then another kale and tomato dish, this time with chicken quarters.

Kale: it's what's for dinner. :-)

Are folks still interested in a Burns Night dinner? It would have to be *very* early (the 14th or 15th), since not only am I going to be gone the actual night (the 25th) and the weekend following, but my reenacting group has just announced they'll be having their annual dinner the weekend before. My apologies to the folks ([livejournal.com profile] sidhne, [livejournal.com profile] redactrice, [livejournal.com profile] magaidhbhan, and [livejournal.com profile] selki) who were interested if this makes it impractical (or seems too far off from the actual date to be "right"; I figure it's just dinner with whisky and poetry--what need to be on a particular day?)

In sad Scottish gourmand news, I discovered the last time I was in Old Town that Scotland Yard is gone, due to be replaced with an American "Southern Country" restaurant. Searchign the Web, all I've been able to find is that it closed its doors last summer. :-(
