That is to say

five books for children re-imagined as science fiction

As the poster who alerted me to it said, "For everyone who’s ever secretly wished they could score a copy of Horton Hears a Timelord or introduce the kids to Curious George Orwell, please enjoy the entire gallery at the above link...in the meantime, we’ll be pondering our next great literary masterpiece, Marty McFly Meets the Phantom Tollbooth."

I recently discovered that Phillip Jose Farmer's "Riverworld" books have been translated into not one but two TV movies. Thanks to the magic of WiFi streaming Netflix, I was able to watch the second of these (two 1.5 hour episodes intended to be the pilot of a new TV series that never lived). It had its good points and its bad points. )

I have to thank [livejournal.com profile] gr_c17 for enriching my day by sharing this link to a website full of really cool models. Submarines, airships, cannons. tractors... all researched and hand-built by a very ingenious and hard-working fellow. I think one of the things I love most about his site is how he seamlessly mixes real history with classic science fiction and stuff I think he's made up entirely from his own imagination.
