Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

I don't know how true to the author's intent the test is, but the book is one that our counselor recommended to N and me and that I found insightful and worthwhile (unlike Eckert Tolle's book, which was so smug and fatuous that I wanted to fling it out the window...)

But Jan, it seems to me that the acts of service is something I never needed before kids...now because there is so much going on, that helping me out makes me able to relax and enjoy the other stuff...I would have loved to taken this 12 years ago and compared the results to today's

That's a very interesting observation about the before/after of kids!

But I think we've always known we make better friends than we probably would be partners. :-)
