Excellent! Tickets purchased for flights to and from Embro, and accomodation booked for my stay. I'm planning on doing some day-touring around the Lothians with my volunteer dragoman and native scout, but would any of my local friends like to try to get together for drinks or dinner while I'm there? I'll be arriving 2 Fed and leaving 8 Feb.

Dinner would be good anytime after the 2nd as I will be back from a con.

Maybe find somewhere with a decent big table and have a Gathering.

I cannot comment on critical mass. Asteroids orbit around me though.

What day would be good? I should be able to get a half day and I work in the city centre these days.

I suspect a week night that isn't Monday will be fine as I have a government chariot! P is in California right now so I will have to correspond with her via drums about dates.

I was thinking about Khushi's as it has reasonable food at a reasonable price and spacious but it burnt down recently!

So suggestions are welcome for a place to eat on the basis of we need to cater for vegevores

Drums = AT&T.

I don't know my schedule yet, though I will definitely be in Edinburgh on Tuesday and on Saturday.

Which isn't to say I couldn't make any other day - indeed, I seem to be vastly underemployed this semester, unless something changes this week.

Shoot, we're in Edinburgh next weekend and only next weekend. Oh well.

Well, we're about as far south/central as you can go unless you want to swim to the Isle of Wight. (I can't see it from my backyard like Sarah Palin and Russia, but I can see the island from the quay, a ten-minute walk. :)

We're going to attend an SCA event at the Priory Church in S. Queensferry on Saturday. We have Sunday free before flying back to Bournemouth Sunday night. I want to go to Inchcolm, but it's closed in January. We're mixed between going to Edinburgh proper (been there, done that) where Coda will tempt us, checking out Dunfermline Abbey etc. (we're staying at a cheap Travelodge near there -- £12 a night for both of us :) or driving down to Northumberland. I've not been to the latter since 1999 and I'd really like to return. It may depend on how tired we are, the weather etc.

Dunfermline Abbey is open limited hours on the Sunday; Abbot House is open longer. If we go to Northumberland, it'll either be to Lindisfarne (tides are fine that day) or to Warkworth and/or Alnwick. A lot of will depend how early we rise on Sunday morning.

I haven't been to the RA in Leeds for a few years. The SCA group in northern England is a bit dormant at the moment, but they used to hold events at a site in Bramhope, right by Leeds.

You coming north of the bridge? Wanna meet in Dunfermline on the Saturday?

Hey, I might finally get you that Life in the UK book, if you still want it. :)

But of course, I do! We're on target for a bunch of stuff and that would just put the icing on the cake!

Any idea of where I can find the list of documentation needed for ILR? I've looked but probably am just looking in the wrong places ...

Tour itinerary is 'very' flexible, to the point of being non existent at present :-) Whatever you want to do is good with me.

With regards to veggie restaurants I know of a few (varying prices): Kalpana, David Bann, and Hendersons

http://www.kalpnarestaurant.com/
http://www.davidbann.com/
http://www.hendersonsofedinburgh.co.uk/

I'll ask my vegan friend if she can recommend any others too.
