Yes, the recent terror arrests were timed for US political purposes, in direct contradiction to what our British allies believed were the tactical and legal best practices of the operation.
Ned Lamont is not a tool of the terrorists, Mr Vice President. You and your party are: you are doing just what the terrorists want you to do: destroying democracy for your personal and political gain.
Anyone remember how the conservative Republicans, including members of our own administration, had identified the Taliban and the Saudi conservatives as potential allies in the UN to help fight against the expansion of women's rights and the spread of progressive thinking on family planning? It seems very ironic that the people who are insisting that they are the only leaders capable of defeating our current enemies are those who until the war began were closest to them.

Date: 2006-08-14 07:47 pm (UTC)The conspsirators didn't have airline tickets or passports yet? And they were an imminent threat why?
I was very skeptical of the amount of conspiracy-theorying going around on b_a too, but this sounds like the US insisted it had to be *that* week. And endangered the legal case agaisnt the guy picked up in Pakistan as a result, even though AG Gonzalez (Mr "Evidence Obtained Under Torture Should be Legally Admissable") said that details of the operation would be withheld from the public so as to protect the British legal process.

Date: 2006-08-14 10:29 pm (UTC)we did this knowing full well that they were both lying self interested war mongering ass nuggets.
we have no-one to blame but ourselves for allowing them to continue to get away with it.
I suggest next time the elections come, we go to the polling stations and find our favoured candidate, pull our pants down and bend over. we then say 'Give us the shaft now and get it over with, please'
at least that will be slightly more honest.
