Effective July 1, 2006, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has repealed Article 12, Motor Vehicle License Tax, Sections 82-12-1 through 82-12-12 of the Code of the County of Fairfax. As a result, Fairfax County residents will no longer be required to purchase and display a County decal on the windshield of their vehicle!

Huh. I was just thinking this morning that I needed to go buy a county sticker for the new car sometime. How fortuitous. =)

Huh... interesting... makes one wonder where they are getting the revenues from if not from the very progressive and very voluntary car tax (the only tax I like paying - because it is entirely voluntary, don't have a car == don't pay a cent).

Prince William County is still requiring them... just applied for one on the new Prius.

Silly me, I should have read the link you posted before commenting...

There will still be a Car Tax, but they won't be doing decals to check... which leads to how do they enforce it? By mail?

I guess this leaves the police free to do more important things, and leaves tax collection to others.
