How is it that two people can sleep quite comfortably in a bed, like so

two people in bed

and that one person can likewise find a bed perfectly comfortable

one person in bed

But that if you add three relatively small (compared to the person) cats, it becomes almost impossible for the person to find room?

one person and cats, cat version

Part of the answer lies in the cats' insistence in this case on forming a line abreast, whereas if they would just position themselves around the person, all would be well.

one person and cats, sensible version

But, no, everyone has to be in the coveted space near (1) the light and (b) the person's face, so the person gets pushed further and further aside. Grrr.

Familiar ever after as the day the battle of Agincourt took place, giving William Shakespeare the opportunity to write one of the most stirring speeches in the English tongue.

So what if the English were really only outnumbered 3:2? It was still a victory over the Frogs, right? ;-)

I've finally come to realise that there are a number of women who refer to their husband int he third person as DH, signifying 'darling husband'. Huh; since they're none of them people whose surnames I know, I just thought they were all named H-something and married to men named Daniel or David or Donald or Duncan or Derek or Devon...

cats!

A very nice website about cats! The gallery of cat-related pub signs is particularly fun.
