Jun. 13th, 2008 04:32 pmAfter hearing some stories from friends and acquaintances of working in the Peace Corps, I've kept that in the back of my mind as something I could do at some point, especially if I somehow wangle early retirement or some sort of sabbatical from working. An article in my college alumni e-newsletter had a link to the PC website, so I surfed over to look at their requirements.
Would you believe, they refuse to accept applicants who have contracted sarkoidosis? Which I did several years ago, and have occasional bouts with.
I understand why the Red Cross won't take my blood, but this seems a bit unfair. I suppose they don't want to runt he risk of someoen getting ill somewhere where it's hard to get medication to them, but...
Well, there are always plenty of other foreign and domestic volunteer organisations.
