I have read about half, which I consider pretty good since I generally read non-fiction. I am a high school graduate.

I've read at least 60 completely, chunks of the Bible and Shakespeare, and there are several I will be reading if and when I run out of cereal packets, and it's possible I read several more and forgot about them. Funny list, thought. It gives little sense of coherent thought or structure.

I realise that without my dad to task me with items from the TLS any more, I may miss stuff, but I was surprised by the number of titles I'd never heard of.

I rather wonder whether, especially since it supposedly comes from the BBC, whether it may not be the result of an Internet poll or similar. It would explain the multiple works by traditional "authors everyone was supposed to read" there are, while not including *anything* by other writers of equal prominence.

I'd heard of Enid Blyton (I think Michael Flanders make a passing reference to her), but I've never seen any of her books. Almost odd, given when she wrote and my parents' fondness for British authors.
