winterbadgerI cleaned up the bike last weekend, and today I went out for a ride, the first in a long time.
The good news is that mostly it seems to have survived being outside for a winter. I rode about two miles and had a nice warm-up. The bad news is that the seals on both front shocks are broken and there is water in the fork. I know nothing about bicycle mechanics, but a brief Google around suggests that this is something that could be very serious if left unrepaired, so I will have to take Rupert in to the shop soon.
It's nice out today (so far): warm, a bit damp, with a profusion of birds. I have to go in to work, but the plumber is here fixing the toilet (our landlady made sure he would come first thing in the morning--I suspect as punishment for our asking twice if she could get him out), so I can't shower yet. Fortunately, he seems to think the repair will not be too complicated.

But since you have them, best get them fixed.
