grrrr! weather
Oct. 3rd, 2007 05:31 pmAfter coming back from the lovely UK where it was cool alternating with bouts of chilly (even when I wasn't on the water and even when it was bright sun and no clouds), I come back to horrible Mid-Atlantic US , where this week is doomed to be HUMID and in the 80s! In ***OCTOBER***!
Gaaaah! Get me (us) out of this place!
(I really do like our neighborhood, and if Everything Fell Apart and we had to stay here a while longer before going to the UK or New England/Canada/some other nicer place I've decided I could be OK with that. But this weather is beyond ridiculous.)

Date: 2007-10-03 10:25 pm (UTC)Sunday: grey and cool, alternating cloudy/sunny/light rain
Monday: grey and cool, starting with light rain then changing to strong winds and heavy rain, rain eventually passing off
Tuesday: cold, alternating cloudy, partly sunny, and rainy
Wednesday-Friday: sunny or partly sunny, cool and breezy
Saturday: grey and cool, scattered showers
My impression is that the difference between the weather in the south of England (where it often seems to be about the same as it is here, though maybe 5-10*F cooler) and here is much less than the difference between the south of England and anywhere in Scotland.

Date: 2007-10-04 08:33 am (UTC)For me, the killer is the humidity. Those 21 years I spent in Colorado (where five percent humidity is the norm unless it's actual precipitating) spoiled me. Recently, it's been so muggy here. The temperatures are a little cooler, but I'm still too warm due to the humidity.

Date: 2007-10-04 12:03 pm (UTC)Well, four days either partly or wholly sunny. Out of seven days in Scotland, that's a lot! :-)
(humidity)
I think it may sometimes be even *more* humid in western Scotland than I'm used to in DC (my beard was all soft and springy after a few days on the water), but it's not HOT too, which makes a huge difference. May still need a dehumidifier to prevent the books turning green, depending on where we settle...
