Nah, because he's a romantic at heart. Kinda the moral equivalent of reading those trashy romance novels, you know, with the Fabio clone on the cover ripping the bodice of our heroine. Chris has told me the first book was good, but each one has gotten progressively worse (he's on, what? #9 at this point). I asked him why he's wasting his time with what even he thinks is drivel, his answer amounted to 'I escape to another world'. That is the same answer my mom gave as to why she read the romance novels. So there you have it, the soft white underbelly of the Christopher (oh, I did not say that, bad Carmen, bad, bad, bad).
Aww. I need to stop thinking that Chris and I are so much alike.... There's an excellent book out there about what kinds of women read romance novels and why--it's fascinating, I was really impressed with the scholarship and analysis, and I have no idea what it's called.
