Yesterday morning we got up horrendously early and N went off to her reffing gig. I hung out here for a little while, getting in touch with my mum, unpacking, and so on. I went to the farmers' market with C&M, then got some lunch together for N, went and got a couple of thermoses (I thought N might like something hot with her lunch, it being so cold and damp), and drove down to Woodbridge where the tournament was that she was officiating in.
She had five games, and no ARs at all, so she was recruiting spare parents to run the lines for her. I took some pictures of one game (OK, mostly of the official :-), then did a stint as a linesman since the guy who was doing it on my side of the field was hopeless (kept stopping to talk to the substitutes and missing the game). It was really a lot of fun, and at N's suggestion I'm thinking of taking the ref course in order to get qualified and do it more regularly.
We went to a wine-tasting party in the evening that she and a friend of her had planned. It was nice--I got to spend some more time with some of her friends I'd met and got to meet some others I hadn't seen before. We came back and crashed here, totally exhausted (we never did actually have any dinner...)
Today she's off doing another set of tournament games, as an AR this time, and I've been doing a bit of cleaning and tidying. I took Rupert off the trainer so I can take him out for a ride, cleaned the cat boxes, disposed of a couple of mousy corpses in the basement, and cleaned the bathroom. I need to do some laundry and maybe have some tea and a nap.
I need to call my mum and see how she's doing, too, and if Cornelia has already gone back to NJ.
