who's for the movies?
Jan. 29th, 2007 10:22 pmI missed a *lot* of films that I wanted to see in the theatre in the last couple of years through in attention. I'd like to try and fix that. Some of the movies in release right now I'd like to catch include the following. Who's up for a show?
Definitely
The Painted Veil
Venus
The Good Shepherd
Letters From Iwo Jima
Blood Diamond
The Last King of Scotland (yes, I do know it's not about Scotland :-)
Maybe
Children of Men
Volver
Casino Royale (again)
The Pursuit of Happyness
The Queen (again)
on video
Flushed Away
Flags of Our Fathers (since I missed it in theatrical release)

(Less likely is my friend Nick who, though not lowbrow at all, remarked with disgust at how "the Emperor and the Assassin" seemed to be full of low, slow pans of countryside or scenes of stiff dialogue, but not much actual *action* (I guess the battles and sacking of cities wasn't actiony enough ;-)
I did like Penelope Cruz in 'All the Pretty Horses' and 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin'. She's quite beautiful despite (or somehow because of) having such a large nose!
