guid wishes tae a' on St Andra's Day!
Nov. 30th, 2006 11:42 pmWe had a grand meal (haggis, neeps, tatties, leeks in sauce, a pudding, with Irn Bru and Highland Spring Water for the non-alcoholic), with toasts and the ode, and music by Andy Stewart. I hung up my saltire in the window. The whole expat thing--minus, of course, an actual expat. There was the better part of a bottle of 14-year-old Oban put away, thanks to the generosity of Mr
gr_c17. And my kind guests made short work of cleaning up my kitchen.
We had a grand craic, the four of us (
john_arundel and
redactrice were also in attendance,
shy_kat having been with us earlier but having had to leave, feeling poorly :-(, and then we started (but did not finish) watching 'A Bridge Too Far' (hey, Roy Urquhart was Scots!)
So, despite a few hitches and vexations, all went well. And we've plenty of practice now for January 25th! :-) And, again, I am reminded what awfully nice friends I have!
