This has been a blissfully peaceful Thanksgiving Day (so far...)
The only seriously bad thing happened when, working on only about 5 hours' sleep for either of us, Melissa and I drove out to Dulles to put her on her flight to the K. family gathering. I got home after a stop for gasoline (I was driving on fumes at that point) to find a message from M saying we had both forgotten that her flight was from NATIONAL Airport. Apparently they were able to put her on a later flight, but I still feel awful. :-(
Back here I did a few housekeeping things, had breakfast, planned dinner, and took a nap. Woke up around 2.30 (I needed that nap!) and have been pottering about since. I'm borrowing the grrlz second VCR since mine died, so I move it, then made sure the connections for their second TV & DVD still worked, which ended up with me watching all of 'A Close Shave' with their cats. I do love Wallace and Gromit!
I read some (enjoying Perez-Reverte's 'The Queen of the South'), and now I'm working on dinner, which will actually be at dinner time (instead of midafternoon). The menu is soy-glazed Cornish game hen with baked sweet potatoes and a green salad, accompanied by a Turning Leaf merlot, closing with pumpkin pie. Very civilised. :-) As I cook, I'm listening to a CD of the Rankins from Cape Breton--wonderful fiddle music! Evening activities to include calls to various family members, possibly a fire in the fireplace, and a movie or two.
Exchanged emails with my long-distance lady friend. We both went to see the new Bond movie last night and exchanged opinions. She's taking the last of three accountancy exams today, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she does well. I like her very much--she's smart and funny and very congenial.
OK, time to turn the potatoes. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
