Well, that may explain the trouble I was having pedaling this morning.

I stopped at the bike store on the way home and picked up a pressure gauge (it struck me that I had gotten a hand pump but not a gauge) and checked the tire pressure. Erm, this gauge seems to be broken. It's not registering anything. *feels sides of tires* Crap! There's no pressure--that's why it's not registering anything! *pump, pump, pumpity pump pump* Checks pressure again--20+ psi. Keep pumping, 30+ psi. The tires say 40-65 psi, but it's very tough going with the pump at this point, so I'm going to leave it at that for the moment. I'll check them in the morning and see if there seems to be a slow leak.

It may just be time. Rupert has been part of the family for almost a year! His "birthday" is on Wednesday; I'll have to do something nice for him. Like give him a bath. :-) (The trail was very muddy today!)

check the tyre.

take it off and run your finger/thumb around the inside WHILE WEARING A LATEX GLOVE. Anything sharp/pointy poking through will snag on the glove and you will then know where it is and be able to pull it out.

I once had an inner tube 'repaired' 4 times before I checked the tyre myself and fixed it. The mechanic, when I mentioned this, looked both amused and immensely guilty. basstud
