2. Running across some emails from a former lover from back when you both still loved each other and were kidding each other about it sucks. Not that I won't probably print them out and keep them, but it still sucks.

SBF: THANK YOU! I have jackhammers, buldozers, and trucks with big clanking bits under my window (they're completely taking up the road and replacing it) every morning starting at about 7. I don't know exactly what ganching entails, but I'll trust you that it's appropriate.

2. I was thinking the same thing as I walked in to work this morning. It's the tiny masochist in our heads, the same one that prompts us to kick something hard when we've just hit our thumb with a hammer, or to thump our head against the wall when we're upset because, well, one sort of pain is better than another sort. :-/

Ganching is something I learned about from Dorothy Dunnett, something the Turks used to do to someone they *really* didn't like. The *Turks*. 'Nuff said.
