An interesting piece in the current Foreign Affairs by le pere de vikingcat

Summary: Despite all the ominous warnings of wily terrorists and imminent attacks, there has been neither a successful strike nor a close call in the United States since 9/11. The reasonable -- but rarely heard -- explanation is that there are no terrorists within the United States, and few have the means or the inclination to strike from abroad.

An interesting and cogent essay, to my mind (though the author really needs someone to shorten and untangle his sentences).

This is the second piece he's written for FA in the last year or so (I gather he's quite a big wheeel in the PS community), and they've both been good and provoking pieces.
