I was thinking about the Scotland thing on the way home and everything I was going to write, but I kind of got sidetracked. And I stopped at Borders (always a bad thing ;-), and that took time, and then I had dinner, and that took time, and here it is bedtime (past) again. I didn't even go out and game tonight, and it's still already late and nothing done. Hrrmph.
Gaming and various fun stuff planned for this weekend. OK, first weekend in August: serious, serious cleaning time. Second weekend in August: go down to my folks' for my mum's birthday (80th; I think something especially cool is in order).

Date: 2006-07-25 07:47 pm (UTC)For the Borders report? :-) Two books, four CDs.
A Princess of Roumania: Because someoen on my FList recommended it recently and it looked interesting.
Lebnanon:A House Divided because I want a better background on Lebanon than I have, and something more recent than my books on the 1982 war is needed. And I trust Sandra Mackey to write something intelligent and readable.
Old Blind Dogs: Play Live: because I love them and I'm always up for more of their music
Gordon Lightfoot--Complete Greatest Hits: just because I felt like picking up something that has some of my early favourites from this most favourite of singer/songwriters. I need to get a copy of the UA collection too, as
Battlefield Band: Road of Tears: because I love these guys and am always happy to get their latest.
Capercallie: The Blood Is Strong: because I liked their stuff on some compilation CDs and wanted to try a whole disc of their work. This illustrates the danger of impulse buying without reading reviews ahead of time as, judging from the Amazon comments, this is a CD unlike most of their other work. Oh, well...
I was also tempted by a number of other artists on display (Solas, Anuna, others) but having heard *nothing* of their work I decided to give them a miss until I'd read up on them. Borders does have a "try before you buy" audio system, but in my expereince it never has any of the CDs on it that I'm actually debating whether to buy or not, so I didn't even try.
There were also a lot of tempting-looking bhangra & Bollywood CDs in the next section (not sure why "Indian" and "Celtic" are next to each other, but...) But I find that I'm currently in a bit of a love/hate thing with Indian pop, so I abstained for the moment.
