I went to the farmers' market in Falls Church with Chris this morning. I got an eggplant (a real white one), some buffalo sausage, some blueberries, and some peaches.

We came home and watched footy. England lost. :-( They really didn't deserve to go through, though. They weren't playing very well.

France won, which for some reason is :-). Maybe I'm feeling sentimental about the Auld Alliance. It was a much better game, and more exciting.

I went biking, for the first time in far too long. Went down the local trail and saw lots of damage from the flooding, including steel bridge rails snapped off like they were toothpicks. Quite amazing. Lots of work for the county crews to do in repair, some of which they seem to have been out doing already. Seven miles, about 3/4 of an hour.

Then this evening Chris and Mel and I went to see The Devil Wears Prada, which was really quite marvelous. I think that's the first movie I've been to see in the theater since Chris and I went to see Narnia back in the winter.

Now I'm home, with my nice friends and my lovely cats. Tomorrow is chore day, but tonight I'm going to have a little something to eat (never had any dinner), watch a little telly, have some tea, and go to bed.

This World Cup has been notable in that England got so far not by playing well, but by being slightly less dreadful than anyone they played.

I wouldn't mind England winning (I am a massive fan of the Cricket team) if they weren't such arrogant over-paid Prima Dona pussies. Media saturation doesn't help either.

A little humility would go an awful long way.
