turning 40 isn't so bad

Many, many thanks to redactrice and Melissa who threw me a tremendous birthday party last Friday! Decorations, prezzies, an entirely-made-from-scratch cake, and lots of good friends to help celebrate with.

Mr. bidger was there, looking for his buddy Drooly (our cat Guildenstern), as was blueinva (without his lovely wife, but I got to talk to her on the phone) who I introduced to Winning Eleven, a very fun soccer game for the PS2 that Melissa gave me at Xmas. Bryan and Cheryl, Jane and Rich, Peter and Glenda, Samantha--it was a great crowd. Several people played Carcassone; others sat around talking about RPGs or living history or movies, and we all enjoyed the wonderful food and drink that had been laid in by our hostesses.

Thanks so much to eveyone for the cards, the presents, the booze, but most of all for the pleasure of your company at what has got to be one of the best and most fun birthday parties soemoen's thrown me since I was a little kid.
