Their Christian borthers-in-spirit are at it again...
from IMDB

Britney Spears' planned appearance on hit TV show Will & Grace has sparked anger from Christian campaigners the American Family Association (AFA). The Mississippi-based group are calling for the episode to be cancelled amid claims the storyline will see Spears star as a TV host for a program named 'Cruci-fixin's.' The AFA insists the show "mocks the crucifixion of Christ" and believe the designated April 13 broadcast slot "further denigrates Christianity" because it is the eve of Christian celebration day, Good Friday. The group's protests last month lead to the cancellation of NBC's The Book Of Daniel which featured a drug-taking priest. AFA founder Don Wildmon says, "NBC is clearly mocking the Christian faith. I think they are smarting from the Book Of Daniel defeat that they suffered, and this is their way to get even." NBC issued a statement in defense of the accusations, claiming Spears' role has yet to be determined. It read, "Some erroneous information was mistakenly included in a press release describing an upcoming episode of Will & Grace, which, in fact, has yet to be written."

I was wondering what had happened to that show; I saw some promos for it then... nothing. Someone commented in its IMDB entry "Finally a well written, creative and well cast show that dares to bring comedy back by poking fun at religion. Plus, it does this within the constraints of Network censors."

Apparently not within the constraints of the ultra-Christian zealots through which all popular culture has to pass to be allowed to be broadcast. And the stupid Rolling Stones censoring. What a screwed-up country this is...

Will and Grace is dreadful. It's moved from being well-written, creative and well cast, to a smutty, cheap-one-line joke shadow of what it was.
Gene Wilder commented that when he was invited to return to the show just that, and that he didn't need the large amount of money offered.

The religious zealots are as per usual looking to do a job for what they're not employed, but I think I'd care more if it was The Daily Show or South Park they were going after (which both have a track record of religious parody).

You saw the fake 'suicide bomber' from the weekend's protests in London was arrested today?

Soon, you won't be able to mock anything, not even Mohammad..oh wait... That has already happened.

Really, this is getting ridiculous. I'm getting very angry reading about this. Don't people have other things to get angry/upset/bent out of shape about? How about poor people in America? What's going on in New Orleans? You don't hear much about that in the news anymore.

The US is starting to spiral out of control in a way that displeases me greatly. Censorship is starting to become the norm.

On the other hand, since this so-called AFA is only protesting specific episodes of Will and Grace, does that mean they endorse the main show in general?

I haven't see it myself, but isn't that the show that depicts a gay couple as neighbors to or co-workers of the lady in the title?

Perhaps the AFA has finally gotten truly Christian and decided to accept the alternative lifestyle of Will and his partner!
