Aren't women the biggest proponents of the continuation of female circumcision? I always figured it for the "I had to for these* reasons so so do you".

Well, there are certainly a lot of women who, for whatever reason, continue to insist on it for their daughters or other women. There are plenty of men who insist on it too.

How any religion (Islam, Judaism, or any other) can claim that the God who made our bodies wants us to slice parts off is beyond me. But then, it's hardly the least rational thing that religions have come up with, even if it's one of the more horrific.
