the biggest problem with sleeping late...

winterbadger...is that you just feel like keeping on sleeping!
Went to sleep around 11, got up at 4.45 for some reason I now forget, went back to sleep almost immediately and had some lovely dreams (no! no peeking! :-). Was roused by cats at 7.45 for breakfast. Went back to sleep until 10.30 or so, and I've been reading books and Lj and email since then (and devouring a slice of yummy blueberry-something that Chris made for breakfast and the grrlz delivered a piece of in recompenze for.. .stuff :-). Now it's nearly 1 and I'm thinking "Hmmm, a nap would be good about now..." Gaah! :-)
This is also partly due to having gotten completely wiped yesterday spending three hours in the sun in a parking lot grilling food for the Screaming Eagles tialgate. Despite using lots of sunscreen, drinking tons of water, and taking shade breaks on a regular basis, I was still in the early stages of heat exhaustion (nausea, dizziness, increased temp) by the time I dragged the last of the carts of gear back to the stadium. So I ditched my regular seat and hung out in one of the viewing platforms where there was plenty of shade and ready access to water but also an excellent view of the match. There are usually a few people there most games; by the end of this one there were about a dozen. Damn ESPN2 and their freaking 4.00 pm kick-off schedule.
Came home and recuperated (got lots more fluid onboard and a shower), then dined with executive chef Melissa and Guinea Pig #1 (Chris) as M tried out some new (and delicious!) recipes and we all watched Battlestar Galactica (an impressive example of how to take a cr*p show and turn it into a corker!)
This afternoon (once I get off my heinie) will involve much cleaning, some filing, and perhaps formulating my cover letter to go to UK recruiting agencies.
But first, I must try calling my mum again (no answer around 11) to wish her a happy birthday! :-)
