True, and I'd actually be able to apply my experience working with the military, which isn't the case in most places. I wonder what the... holy smokes!

I wanted to be a technical writer when I got out of school, but I had no experience and no one would hire me :(. Now I'm a teacher instead.

Well, look at it this way--the world really *needs* good teachers, whereas you can be the best technical writer in the wolrd and still no one will actually read the manual/process handbook/conference report. They all just scan the executive summary and skip to the conclusions... ;-)

Yeah, it's great money and it's relevant to your background.

But you'd be living in a country you're not especially interested in, surrounded (other than at work) by a language you know none of, and having to argue about hideous military-bureaucratic writing with people who don't see why "interactive managed lessons learned database" might need some commas or hyphens.

I'm not sure I'd be enough to make me what to get up in the morning. :-)
