gaming on the 25th
Jun. 14th, 2005 01:24 pmSo, I'm trying to prepare for my game day on the 25th. I'd like to run a historical miniatures game (though there will of course also be boardgaming). What sort of game should I run?

Oh. You said _bucolic_.
I'm here all week. Try the veal.

At first, when you mentioned cheese, I thought "The sophomore sensation credits her agility and quick first step to her father, who used to take her to a neighborhood park all covered with cheese." A Sports Night reference, which only

Sports Night getting cancelled still angers me. Because, of
course, there aren't enough real and important things to get
legitimately angry about these days... ;) I was prepared
to be equally disappointed this year but FOX (of all networks)
actually did the right thing and re-upped for Arrested Development
(best network sitcom since SportsNight, IMO).

Date: 2005-06-15 03:31 am (UTC)As my friend Dave at work (A fellow I think you would enjoy, bidger) is fond of saying, "As long as you're outraged, that's what's really important." :-)
Fox is surprsiing sometimes. "House" is good too. You'd think they were a real network. And "Rescue Me" was really good too, until they started getting wrapped up in trying to out-weird the previous episode.
Re: not definite

little as I watch TV, FOX sure does get the bulk of my business.
And they have a summer program, The Inside, co-produced by Tim
Minear of Angel and Firefly repute. The pilot last week was
pretty good (if intentionally grim) for a pilot. Could evolve
into something good.
And, yeah, if you can't get ticked about the little things, then
all that repressing the important stuff could really hurt you.

viking cat and bidger both posting in the same week--the (boardgaming-related) planets are aligning!

Date: 2005-06-16 05:30 am (UTC)Re: TYW (AKA "some crap that happened 400 years ago", which I think would actually have been a catchier subtitle than "Europe in Agony") I was figuring that I still needed to noodle around with CB to figure out how cards work in it, but you can probably tell me that, I suppose. Other than that I think I'm basically ready to roll. It's likely to be an even uglier thirty years for those yearning to breathe free from the yoke of Rome than the real war was, I fear. I guess this time around we should sort out which optional rules we're using in advance, though. :-)
Re: not definite
Date: 2005-06-16 12:26 pm (UTC)So you're not turning, then. Took me a moment. :-)
Actually I need to do the same. As the two evil princes say in The Land of Green Ginger, you plot and I'll plan, and we'll add together and divide by two.
Yes, that would probably be good. :-)
