So, I figure I always complain about how I and mine never do anything fun for New Year's.

And I really love Scotland more than anyplace on Earth.

And I'm really fairly stuffy and non-adventurous. Not original. Not spontaneous. Never do anything unless someone else organizes it and prods me into it.

So, bollocks to all that! :-) I've decided I'm going to spend New Year's in Edinburgh. :-) I'm going to be booking through this group (http://www.backpacker.co.uk/hogmanayitineraryflyhotel.htm), and I'll be finding flights to get me to Heathrow in time to meet their schedule.

Anyone like to go along? I'm going, so it's just a question of whether you feel like joining the ride. :-)

hmmm

I'll ask the wife. How long is the trip?

Good for you!! Have lots of fun!

[really not my thing--crowds and drinking and noise and all]

What a fabulis idea! I'm glad you're going to do it. My first thought was "me too, me too." But much as I love Edinburgh, drunken crowds aren't really my thing (especially if there's no soccer being played). So I guess I'll pass.

If you haven't already, you might want to try Expedia or Orbitz for flight information. I've always had good luck with them. The late evening flights out of Dulles get into Heathrow around 6 or 7 a.m., so you'd have plenty of time to clear customs and meet up with the group.

I bet you'll hear some great music! If you run into Graeme Pearson (of the CDs), give him my regards.

And don't forget to hit the Games Workshop store next to the Tron Kirk. :-)

Yeah, that does sound like a better idea. And airfare is likely to be cheaper then. It always spikes up during the holidays.

Besides, what better place to spend St. Patrick's Day than, er, Scotland.

Glad you're thinking outside the box, though.

You can probably feel the jealousness emanating from me.... :)

I so wanted to go, but money holds me back. In the spring, though ... I had been planning to go over and visit D, and thought a nice trip North might fit in nicely. When is your birthday?
