Some of the networks have called Ohio for Bush, while others are saying it's still too close to call. With only about 100,000 votes between the candidates there adn perhaps more than 100,000 ballots... what did they say? in the mail? disputed? I don't think this is going to end tonight. Nevada, Iowa, Wisconson, Michigan are all neck and neck. Unless Kerry concedes (and I don't know why he would) I don't think this is going to be decided for a few days.

I'm going to bed. 1.42, ugh.

These may be famous last words, but I call Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and Hawaii for Kerry. New Mexico, Nevada, and Iowa belong to Bush, I think (though Iowa probably would be Kerry's if there weren't so many third party candidates). Ohio appears too close to call, but I have a hunch it will ultimately go to Bush; he's demonstrated a willingness and readiness to steal a state's electoral votes before.

Iowa's results will be delayed due to technical difficulties, apparently. And I suspect Ohio quite enjoys its reputation for making or breaking candidates for President, and will relish making us wait at least a week whether it's really necessary or not. (Though I can't really blame Ohio; they've suffered especially bad, economically, these last four years. Who can blame them for seeking a sense of worth in some other fashion?)

Still, if I'm correct, that's enough to award Shrubya another four years in the White House. *sigh*

Not good. I didn't think the Kennedy faction was the way to go this year. The Democrats are tearing themselves apart, and with a Supreme Court that is likely to refuse to interfere with the other two branches, a Congress that has all but handed its war declaration power and taxation power to the Executive (after having been beaten down in past budget battles, it's now only too happy to sign any budget that passes their way, assuming it contains enough pork and a token agenda item), if Ohio is indeed decided for Bush (and I agree that it seems likely it will), we're in for an activist Presidency for the next two years (at least).

Sorry for the run-on sentence there, but I'm tired and not a little dispirited at the moment. And dreading the "cheer up, bucko" I'll be facing tomorrow at work.

I read we won't know about Ohio for 11 more days due to some law about provisional ballots. I just hope that Kerry can hang in there and not concede before all the votes are counted!

And I find it hard to believe that New Mexico, with its predominantly Latino population, would go for Bush.

Unless Kerry concedes (and I don't know why he would)

And he shouldn't, but the Republicans are going to hammer the American public with the fact that they see the Democrats as whiney, unrealistic sore losers yet again. I feel like I've been in a 4 year nightmare. However, I will say that the Democrats had a wonderful grass roots effort. I was approached by many Democrats on the street during the election season and never once by a Republican. I had flyers stuck on my door, materials arrived via mail, etc. We really put our hearts and souls into this and we should be very very proud of what we did. We stood up for what we believe is right. John Kerry was an excellent candidate and he did what he could to pull this out. At least I can say that this was the good fight and I am not ashamed to be a Democrat.

All I can say is this: Karl Rove is the bloody anti-christ. I hate two people in the world. He's one of them.
