I took another short break from painting and took a walk in the park. Very pleasant, warm evening with lots of kids out playing watched by cheerful parents. Speaking of Dougie MacLean, I see his US concerts are not going to be in this area this year, so I'm making a plan now to come over in the autumn, either for the Perthshire Amber concerts or for the Blas, as he's playing in that.

One of my all-time favourite albums, Jethro Tull's "Songs from the Woods". Beautiful music, wonderful use of some very traditional instruments in a folk-rock setting; delicate, complex melodies; a mix of heady, sexual lyrics, pagan and natural symbolism, and sheerly joyful tunes (like "Ring Out, Solstice Bells"). I used to listen to this all the time driving to work in Colonial Williamsburg one summer. It has tremendous emotional resonance for me. And I just love the music.

Some herb tea, a book, and bed. The morning will come too soon, what with the time change and all.
