lovely evening!
I took another short break from painting and took a walk in the park. Very pleasant, warm evening with lots of kids out playing watched by cheerful parents. I took my mp3 player with me, that I've not had a chance to listen to in a while, and enjoyed some Dougie MacLean. And that leads me to another installment of my musical day, being reminded of this, the love song that inspired me so much in the past and still tugs at my heart every time I hear it. Speaking of Dougie MacLean, I see his US concerts are not going to be in this area this year, so I'm making a plan now to come over in the autumn, either for the Perthshire Amber concerts or for the Blas, as he's playing in that.

And to finish off the evening...
One of my all-time favourite albums, Jethro Tull's "Songs from the Woods". Beautiful music, wonderful use of some very traditional instruments in a folk-rock setting; delicate, complex melodies; a mix of heady, sexual lyrics, pagan and natural symbolism, and sheerly joyful tunes (like "Ring Out, Solstice Bells"). I used to listen to this all the time driving to work in Colonial Williamsburg one summer. It has tremendous emotional resonance for me. And I just love the music.
