a pleasant day
Oct. 29th, 2006 09:13 amI went to the farmers' market in the morning with C&M and got some of the wonderful Struan bread that one of the local bakeries does, whole-milk yoghurt, pear cider, crab cakes, eggplant, lettuce, onions, apples, broccoli, a cumber, a red pepper, and some pork-and-French-herb sausages.
We came home, I cleaned cat boxes and then went out for a bike ride on the W&OD Trail, doing 8.6 miles and getting home just before Bryan arrived. I took a quick shower and B and I went off to play a Napoleonic miniatures game with Phil at his new home (very nice, too!) It was an enjoyable game, even though frustrating for B & P at times due to the vagaries of dice. B and I came home, stopping off at Five Guys for dinner, and played two games of Carcasonne with C&M (both of which M won, to no one's surprise :-) while watching MLS playoff games.
Today is likely to have a DC United match (you were right, Bryan; it's at 6, not 5.30), preceded by a tailgate, possibly preceded by more biking. Some housecleaning really ought to happen; we'll see if it does.
Other notes: C&M have a totally *adorable* foster kitten. He got hit by a car and lost one leg, and the Feline Foundation wheedled the emergency vet staff into knocking down the price of surgery to something their coffers could afford, then needed an immediate placement, so of course the "goofy about cats" people stepped up. I'm astounded at how fast this little guy has adapted to operating with one fewer peg. He doesn't seem to be depressed or unable to cope. He's just bopping around with a slightly odd gait, purring and loving everything and everyone in sight and wanting to play! What a trooper!
