A very low-cost flight finder. A commentor said they had also found good tix but advised that people rebooking/changing tickets from there would want to do so through the airline not through the site.

I'm conscious that I'm way out of the mainstream in terms of watching network television, and I'd be interested to know if there are good shows (serial dramas or comedies) that I miss. Right now the only things I watch regularly are West Wing (when it's in season), House, and E.R. (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] poliscidiva, plus The Sopranos, The Wire, and Six Feet Under on HBO. From time to time I tune in to The Simpsons and The Daily Show, but I don't do so religiously. Other things I've enjoyed in the past include comedies (Blackadder, Drew Carey, Red Dwarf), detective shows (Red Cap, The Vice, Inspector Morse, Prime Suspect, Rebus, McCallum), sci-fi (Babylon 5; some Star Trek--DS9 and Enterprise over TNG or Voyager), and serial dramas (Sports Night, thirtysomething, Nothing Sacred, My So-Called Life, Time and Again, Hill Street Blues, Monarch of the Glen--until they totally f'ed it up).

Any suggestions?

Chris and I have taken our cars to Merchant's Tire & Auto on Arlington Boulevard for several years now for new tires, alignments, etc.

I took my car in the other day for an oil change/lube/tire rotation/alignment check. I'll just pass quickly over the work taking 2.5 hours after they promised it would take 1 when I called ahead. Let's just fast-forward to me signing out. At which point they charged me $90 for an alignment. Read more... )

I was reminded by someone the other day of Richard Holloway, retired Primus of the Anglican Church in Scotland and Bishop of Edinburgh. I knew of him through my sister Victoria, who was a friend of one of his daughters. Despite retiring from his bishopric, he is still active as a commentator and author. His view of religion and of the Christian Church is controversial and thought-provoking.

Some of his lectures:

Peter, this passage speaks to somethign you were saying just the other day in your journal, I think.
