that a massive ground offensive kicked off in Iraq the day after the first presidential debate?

I'm not going to be surprised when they "finally" capture Osama on November 1st.

I'm surprised it didn't happen during the debate, with the debate stopped for "breaking news".

What? Me? Cynical?

Well, they had bullshit already called on their purple tinted turquoise homeland security alerts, so it's all they have left.

Did I mention you need 67 points to emigrate to Canada and I have 71?

well, yeah, but I think the Bushies had to know that, mostly, the story would get lost in the news cycle-- so if the Iraqi troops "blew it" in the mosque in Samara, at least it wouldn't be covered or get lost in the weekend/debqate coverage.

I can imagien a plan, had Bush "won" the debate, to bring together a successful Samara operation and the "glory" of a victorious President. But the first didn't happen.

And, anyway, it won't do to make too much of this when it appears to be as much training for Iraqis in preparation for the eventual attempt to "re-take" Fallujah, as an operation "for" Samara.
