Well, I figured asking the dog was a bit much; I mean, the guy was holding the gun the first time, but he presumably dropped it when the dog shot him. Couldn't the deputies have taken him back with them to investigate and had a tragic accidental discharge while reeancting the event? Still, at least teh other dogs are being taken care of and he's on a felony charge. That's *some*thing.
He wanted to shoot the puppies because he couldn't find a home for them, and now that he's been caught, the (surviving) puppies have been taken to Animal Control and put up for adoption?
Couldn't he have, like, taken the puppies to Animal Control himself? (I could be REALLY contrarian and ask if he knew what "spaying" and "neutering" meant before the puppies were born, but maybe that's asking too much.)
I guess if his only tool is a gun, he'll inevitably start to think of all his problems as targets to be shot at.

Some people are so damn irresponsibly lazy it blows my mind. blueinva told me about the time he was workign at the animal shelter in Arlington and someone came in with a pit bull. Blue explained that county regulations required them to euthanise *any* pit bull that was brought in, but if the guy took the dog to the shelters in Falls Church or Alexandria (less then half an hour away), they would take the dog and try to place him.
Animal Discarder: Nah, you guys are closer.
Blue: (struggling to maintain his cool, polite British exterior) Yes, sir, but if we accept the dog, we have to kill it. If you just drive over to one of the other shelters, they'll take it in and house it instead of killing it.
AD: Yeah, but then I'd have to drive all the way over there.

[Place the dog, euthanise the owner?]
