garked from [livejournal.com profile] motherall

In a video originally posted on the Web by a pro-Kerry organization in Austin, Texas, Ben Barnes, a former lieutenant governor of Texas, apologized for his role in getting a young George W. Bush into the Texas Air National Guard while young men who were not from prominent or wealthy families "died in Vietnam."

While the press apparently takes a pass

(not entirely true: the WaPo ran a wire service story on Sunday: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A42628-2004Aug28.html But, yes, it's not the same as the coverage of the SBVFT slanders.)

Wow, I've never been "garked" before...

And how painful is it to be "ganched?" And, if you answer that question, will I regret asking it?

EEWWW, gross! Neal Stephenson mentioned this punishment in "Confusion." I guess it's a bit of a gamble how quickly the victim dies.

I suspect the Chinese would keep such things behind closed doors; none of that crass, obscenely public, throwing people from a great height outdoors stuff.

Great "gark." :-)

Tjis was covered by the of course "notoriously liberal" NYT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/28/politics/campaign/28barnes.html
but buried in the friday news hole.

and CBS in NY aired it on the weekend, this woudl suggest.

I haven't seen it mentioned by talkign heads during the casble or PBS coverage, but, too, I have to say, I'm so bored by most of it, I've slept through most of the prime time speeches.

If I were the former Lt-Governor of Texas, I would be very ashamed.

Now, what's this about Dubyah?
