Aug. 31st, 2004 11:43 amA great article by Steven Goff on DC United's wunderkind, Freddy Adu.
I love this kid; he is so level-headed and thoughtful, so good natured and mature for someone his age, without being a little droid grown-up already. I remember him talking in an earlier interview about how much he was enjoying the academic program at Bradenton, and how the subjects were so fascinating. "I mean, economics, wow!" he said. How many 14 year olds are up to studying economics, let alone think it's fun?
My favourite quote from this article?
You show 'em, Freddy! [beams with pride]

Some opponents also seem annoyed by the presence of a 15-year-old in their league and try to throw Adu off his game.
"They'll say, 'This isn't a boys' game, this is a man's game, you better be ready to play, kid,' " Adu said. "I just say, 'Okay, pops!' "
