I seem to have acquired my first case (that I can recall) of poison ivy. This comes after spending three hours on Saturday along the stream of my local park, cheerfully weeding out garlic mustard which was all mixed in with poison ivy. But not problem--I don't get poison ivy!

Only now it would appear that I do.

Bugger.

Ten bucks said the minute you slather yourself in calamine lotion, ALL of the cats will attempt to sit on you, demand you pet them, etc. :)

Indeed! As soon as I got home, I smeared cortisone gel all over the affected areas, and Phineas's immediate reaction was, "Hey! That smells cool! Can I lick it?" He seemed very hurt when I said no.

The cortisone cream was only marginally effective. But I had a (small) tube of this stuff which I had gotten some time back to keep in my camping kit. Showering and rubbing lots of that all over, and then drying off and putting on lots of this seemed to help.
