Finally got nearly eight hours of sleep last night. I am a creul, evil, mean man, but I shut the cats out of the bedroom and got in bed at 11.30 and woke up around 7 feeling refreshed, for once. (I probably woke up sometime between 6.30 and 6.45, actually, and drifted in and out of trying to sleep, but I moved or breathed or something, which clued in Nicholas that I was at least partially awake, so he started clawing at the bottom of the door.)

And I went to the gym. I did something to one of my knees a couple of months ago, stopped going to the gym while it healed, and started getting into the habit of only taking half an hour for lunch, using it just to eat lunch, at my desk, and either come in late or leave early. So it took some work to motivate myself to get back into gym-going. Last week I went twice, but then I was actually busy for a little while and needed the free time for other things (kept sleeping way late). This week I'm two for two days; yesterday I did my usual 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer (I'm pushing the resistance up now, to 5 so far, because it was gettign too easy and I couldn't go longer).

Today I went back to my weight routine, which I don't think I've done for three months, but it was a good workouot but not impossible (i.e., I've not lost ground). Three leg extension exercises (70-80 pounds), two presses (80-100 pounds), lats and triceps (90-100 pounds), one abs pulldown exercise (160 pounds), and some freeweights for biceps and shoulders (40-50 pounds). Two sets of each (except the triceps), and four sets of 18 reps of crunches (two front, two back). Good workout, ~ half an hour plus changing and showering just about fills my hour. I'll miss the gym if I ever go off and work onsite. I bet whatever other courtesies they extend us, they don't let us use their gym. I don't know if they even have agym for the employees over at the Pickle Factory.

I finally finished working out a rough budget for myself, though I want to sift back through my data and firm up the numbers some. It tells me, among other things, that I should put off getting the new (used) car until the fall or winter (I want to get either a Toyota RAV 4 or a Subaru Forester, and the AWD would be really nice to have with our driveways if it snows again.) I also need to stop buying things on ebay. :-) It's way too easy to spend a lot of money that way.
