I know that some times it may seem from what I post that I'm a grumpy sourpuss, permanently disenchanted with humanity and convinced that the world consists mostly of the stupid and the ill-intentioned.

I fight that, I really do. I work on trying to have a positive, accepting, understanding, "see things from the other person's POV" outlook. And sometimes I come much closer to that state than normal.

And then I go out into the world and have to actually deal with real human beings. And all my bile comes flooding back.

In my relationship I'm the gregarious one and Draugluin is the misanthrope. We balance nicely. :). Although one of my biggest bug bears is people not doing the job they're happy to cash the cheque for doing. Draugluin otoh is never disappointed in others as he expects so little.

You have to find the right environment to see people at their best.

I help at a local Red Cross shop and the staff (and the customers) are great people, friendly and helpful.

I've always found volunteers on nature reserves to be hard-working and warm-hearted.
