annoying morning, nice day

winterbadgerSo, I was supposed to go off and wargame with some chaps. So I start off late (my default condition most of the time, because I try to do too many things of a morning), and I get down to the car. Hey! There's the package that I *had* to be sure to take to pass on, which I left in the car last night so I would remember it. Yay!
Hmmm, smells awfully funny in the car. There must have been poo in the street near where I parked. *drives to end of street to turn around* There must have been a lot, because I'm still smelling it. *stops, inspects feet* Ah, I'm still smelling it because a pile almost as large as Edwin Blackadder's ego is stuck to my sandal. >:-(
*pulls over to side of street away from pavement, scrapes poo off sandal.*
*Sandal, due to space-age treads &c. is still nasty*
*removes floor mat, which also has some poo on it*
*walks back to house*
*walks around back of house, tries to get garden hose*
*finds that some idiot who used garden hose last simply piled it all on any which way, so that only about three feet can be pulled free easily*
*dumps all of hose on the ground, vowing to coil it up later*
*washes off sandal, floor mat*
*goes back inside, emails host to explain lateness, emails housemates to warn of mystery poo*
*puts floor mat on back porch to dry, sandal inside, puts on sneakers*
*goes back to car, gets in, drives away*
*realizes several minutes later that has taken daily commuting route, which is the only egress route guaranteed to be opposite of direction intended for the day;s trip*
*reverses direction*
*looks at dashboard, notices that fuel indicator is on E*
*stops to buy gas*
That was about it. Despite everything, I was only 45 minutes late, and one other person was late and two (both friends of mine) had bailed at the last minute. The host was very nice about it all, though (he's a very nice guy in general), and I had a largely fun time gaming from about 11 to about 4.30. No accidents on the way home, put the dry floor mat back in the car, re-coiled the hose, and started looking at what needs to be done before people come to *my* place to wargame on Monday.
