I loathe and hate FedEx with a deep and angry hatred. Also the two used bookshops that I ordered books from TWO WEEKS AGO that sent them only a few days ago via Fed Ex with MUST DELIVER IN PERSON instructions.
What the HELL? How the f*** is anyone in this day and age supposed to accept parcels and sign for them at home WHEN WE ALL WORK? What kind of m********** moron sends *USED BOOKS* with "no delivery except directly to recipient" instructions? Who the hell sends books by FedEx to begin with? And what kind of lazy, sloppy careless a******* leaves a scrawled door tag with NO indication of WHO the package is FROM or WHO it is FOR? You can't check via the tracking number on the door tag they leave either (their system only tells you where the package is, not what it is or who it's from, and there's nothing that connects their door tag # to the shipper's tracking #).
I have had FedEx leave package slips in the past for items that were sent to previous occupants, and I didn't find out the package wasn't for me until I drove down to their main depot in the city (only open during office hours, so I had to take time off from work to do that) to be told the packages were for someone else. So I wasn't going to just drive down there on the off-chance they might be for me (I was pretty sure they weren't, since WTF sends used books Fed Ex?)
I needed these books for classes. The classes have now started. One book I'm supposed to have half-finished already, and I don't even have it.
I PAID for fast shipping. I did not pay, or ask for, nor was I given the option to avoid, having them sent live-delivery only.
I will NEVER order anything from any of these book dealers again.
I will never use Fed Ex again, if I have any choice. They are careless and sloppy.
And two more books I ordered are showing as "shipped: expected delivery date March 17". WHAT THE HELL? I ordered them in MID FEBRUARY! HOW CAN IT TAKE A MONTH TO MAIL A BOOK?
ETA: (+) I was able to get to the FedEx site before it closed and retrieve the box. (+) The packing slip showed it to have three of the books I had ordered, but four of them were actually inside. (-) The book I need to have read half of already? In the "arriving March 17" shipment. :-(
