The New Year's holiday was nice. ( Read more... )
Tuesday afternoon hodgepodge
Jan. 2nd, 2007 01:20 pmNew Years: a fun and enjoyable party hosted by
redactrice and
shy_kat and attended by
poliscidiva,
gr_c17,
beckon,
standsquiet, and C&M's friend Angela. Many games were played, much champagne was drunk, and much fun had.
Yesterday: A very slow and quiet day. Had breakfast and talked with
gr_c17, then visted with the folks upstairs, played some more games, eventually did a little work, had a delicious dinner cooked by
shy_kat, and so to bed.
Today: Picked up a picture I had had re-framed (little bugs were eating the frame!) and had a long talk with the nice Korean woman who runs the framing shop that I'd gone to. She's looking for a business partner, so if any of you have some money to invest and some good business sense and would enjoy learning a new skill, you might contact her. She seems a very sensible, forthright, hard-working, talented person with an odd and entertaining sense of humour, someone one could learn from and who would be a reliable partner and friend.
There was some sort of horrendous accident on the Beltway, so I was very late to work. I listened to a good bit of President Ford's memorial service this morning on the radio, and the tributes from GHW Bush, Henry Kissinger, and Tom Brokaw had me weeping. What a good and decent man Ford was; how badly this country needs more presidents like him.
