Once More With Feeling has got to be one of the best television episodes ever.

I finished watching an episode of Lewis, turned back to live television and found... a new performance of HMS Pinafore! Yay!

So funny--it's been years since I listened to it, but all the words and melodies are all still lurking right at the edge of my brain.

O joy and rapture unforeseen....

The good: I've made some excellent dinners lately (a nice honeyed chicken and clapshot, some delicious steaks that I finally managed to pan-broil without either burning them or undercooking them). I have two projects almost finished at work that I've been working on for a while. Em and I went out to Wolftrap last night with some of her friends fromm school to the "Sound of Music" sing-along, which was good, clean, silly fun.

The bad: Our contract at work didn't get renewed, so I will have to find a new job in the next few months. This is bad but not ugly because there is plenty of work available in the company, and almost all of it is closer to where I live than my current job.

The ugly: Coming back from the show last night I hit a pothole (in DC? would you believe?) and shredded a tire. The same one that I got in July to replace one that blew out in the District after going to a works party of Em's. And the shop isn't open Sundays, so I'm without a car today and have to take time off Monday.

[livejournal.com profile] shy_kat reminded me the other day of one of my favourite Christmas songs (which I know is one of hers also!)

Wow, an entire day (OK, an entire workday) without Internet! I don't know how I survived!

Astonishingly enough, I got a lot of work done. Hmmm....

Got home, had a very simple dinner with the cats, and watched "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". Wonderful film--I *really* enjoyed it. I'm very fond of Kristen Bell, and Jason Segal is one of my new favourites of this year, since my neighbours hooked me up with Freaks and Geeks and How I Met Your Mother. Mila Kunis is smokin', and the supporting cast are great, but it's really the story and its gentle, funny treatment of something that's very tough that I found totally wonderful.

Oh, and the Dracula puppet musical at the end is priceless. Like the Andrew Lloyd Weber rip-off "Elephant!" (a musical about the Elephant Man, natch) in the vastly underrated "The Tall Guy", this almost steals the show from the real movie and is something I would *definitely* pay to see on stage. :-)

See y'all tomorrow...

too funny!
