I saw my PA today, and he was quite baffled by the bitter taste thing. Of course, it started passing off as soon as I made the appointment, but he walked me through all the things he thought it could be, checking for symptoms, and I didn't have any additional ones, so he remained baffled.

He's also not sure about the cough, but he reaffirmed what he had told me on the phone, that the x-ray showed everything in the lungs was fine. I asked about the left lung looking very different from the right, and he smiled and said "That was probably your heart--it shows up very prominently and makes the right lung look much more defined by comparison."

He did another quick urine test and said there's still some trace element of blood and a little protein there, so he's referred me to a urologist. He went over some possibilities, but he said most of them were pretty unlikely (cancer or kidney disease), that it was probably just an infection, but better to check it out more thoroughly.

I did learn a new word, though: tonsillith. I have little tonsilliths from time to time.

I get a kind of waxy/soapy unpleasant taste in my mouth from time to time.

tonsillith

I hate those things!

Glad to know that you seem in good health otherwise! (The doc seems to think the urology thing isn't a big deal -- let's assume that's so.) ^_^
