wrapping up the day

Never got any storm, just a little quiet rain. Which is nice (love the sound), but I have a feeling that we won't be seeing the temperature drop we were promised, and I was *really* looking forward to that. I'm dreading the gradual upward creep of the thermometer. Meanwhile I see from my iGoogle gadget that "back home" in Edinburgh it's going to be highs in the upper 50s all week. *sigh* One of the many reasons I wish I were there.
Before I left work on Friday, I wrote off to one of the company officers in my division to see if they would fund (partly of fully), my taking this certificate program. It's all online, so I could do it from here, and it's a stepping stone to the full PgDip/MLitt programme. I doubt I can get into that without the certificate; with it, I'd at least have a chance.
I got up before 7 and it's past midnight. I'm tired enough to sleep, but I notice that although I don't particularly want to stay up, I keep going to bed very late. I think it's because I don't want the day to be over, the next one to start. Not sure why I feel that way, other than that each new day means new decisions to take, responsibilities I have to meet. Seems most of the time I don't really want to *do* anything other than read, eat, watch stuff, and sleep. I need to get out more, get back to running or walking or biking, but with the weather so nasty (hot and humid and bound to get worse), it's really hard to do. Another reason I want to get away from here.
I've written off to a couple of women who have profiles on Match or Salon asking for dates, but I've not had much luck. One person who seemed interesting and interested stopped replying and took her profile down. That was disappointing, but I'm used to e-dating people just turning off. It seems to be what people do.
Well, at least I did get out, got some stuff for the cats (tinned food, litter, a new scratchy ramp), clipped the boys' claws, did a pile of dishes. Lay on the gras outside and read for a while before the rain started. Tomorrow I need to clean up (dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom) and get out of the house somehow.
And United got a tie away at the league leaders, coming back from 0-2 to get 2 goals in the second half. Well done!
Ahhh, the sound of Nicholas hacking up a hairball (which he does by wandering around the whole apartment, trying to make sure he horks up a little bit in every room). Joy.
