winterbadgerI finally got the sat receiver in Chris and Melissa's bedroom working! Apparently there was something wrong with the cable that was already run to that room, so I had to divert the cable from the signal splitter instead of just connecting it. Then I couldn't get it up through the *tiny* hole that the builders had put in the framing. Nor could I drill that out large enough to slip the cable in from below. (All of which I discovered after spending an afternoon widening the hole in the sheet rock from 2x3 to about 4x6 in order to be able to even *see* the hole in the framing).
So I ended up pulling the whole (30? 50? foot) cable out of the ceiling in my apartment (below their floor) and inserting it from their room *down* through the hole and threading it back through my ceiling (having pulled a piece of twine behind it to act as a return guide when I extracted the cable to begin with). Made the connections, called the sat company and had them refresh the programming in that box and: tada! They have cable in their bedroom. Of course, their TV stand has a solid back, so they're either going to have to have the cables coming out and round the sides of the stand, or put some holes in the back, but I'll let them figure that one out...
Now to vacuum up all the bits of decaying ceiling panel that the ceiling tiles shed when I moved them to facilitate the wire-pulling...
