I went for a walk in the rain this morning (and very nice it was, too). I hung up all my wet clothes when I got home before I went to work.

The trousers (REI quick-dry) are dry now. The sneakers are still soggy, as are the socks, and there are still damp patches to the cotton pants and t-shirt.

Thank goodness I have a dryer downstairs. :-)

Did you have the heating on? I'd have put the shoes under the radiator, or propped up on the top, and hung the clothes near it

What's worse? The combination washer/dryers. They wash and dry a couple of pairs of socks! ;-)

yes, they need to be vented - or a condensing model.

Mind you I also have a very high ceiling and an "airer/pulley" in the kitchen area which will dry a lot of things.

Yeah, if it's something I need dried (relatively) quickly I hang it on the drying racks that hook onto the radiator.

Otherwise I hang them outside (like yesterday) - and then bring them in when it starts to rain, and hope I don't need them for several days. :)

What's worse - many clothes now in the UK require low heat drying (which takes forever) or no drying in the dryer at all. UGH. Kevin and I have to check *every* label.

Yeah, well, as a person who HAS had to festoon their home with wet clothing (because clothing couldn't be dried in the dryer), and ended up with MUSTY smelling clothing, I prefer to NOT do it!

I know - an electric kettle that dries clothing! ;-D

I LOATHED being on b_a so I dropped it years ago. I hated the negativity.

What about a drier that makes tea and coffee?

It seems we really should be doing something with what would just be waste heat. The problem is I wouldn't want to condense the steam to make my coffee because of the other vapors in it. Maybe there aren't any to speak of. At least we could come up with some type of heat exchanger that taps some of the heat while still venting the moisture. I wonder if it's worth the effort?

I wish my new allergies would let me sleep.
