I don't know how much actual help I can be but I can always make suggestions and do some research from this end. Can't hurt...

And no worries about the LIUK book - one of the girls on the brit-american thingy is under the impression that we have to take it like RIGHT NOW but I was under the impression that we had until we were getting ready to apply for our ILR to take it ... gonna have to look into it. Kind of stupid to have people take a test about LIVING in the UK if they've only been here for a couple of months ... you'd think closer to the two year ILR deadline would make more sense ... ??????

Oh, I had more of the impression you were just kind of generally interested rather than taking the test RIGHT NOW.

I absolutely would *not* take it yet, because a) the HO might change the test again and b) they are overhauling all the rules these days - citizenship itself will change next year - and while Life in the UK probably isn't going away, who knows what will happen?

I am generally interested in the test but I don't want to take it now. It didn't make any sense to me that this other girl on britsamericans was in such a hurry to take that test - I mean, she started studying for it the minute she got here! I'm more interested in getting my driving license first and then start casually reading that book and getting familiar with the content. I've traveled over here for ten years and lived here for a few months back in 2006 (on a work visa) so I feel pretty good about taking the test whenever I need to but know there's probably a few things in that book that I need to study a bit before actually taking it. How much did you have to pay to take it, anyway? Everything you do here costs some sort of a fee!
