Met someone nice. Corresponded for about a week. Had a first date last night. Both enjoyed ourselves, seeing each other again Sunday.

Cautious optimism.

I understand some people build up to their relationships somewhat slowly and still end up very happy. :-)

The thing to remember about going slow-everyone has their own definition. ;-)

This is very true. When Chris and I had our one and only joint R with another couple, everyone agreed to take things very slowly. It only came out over time that some people conceived of "slowly" as meaning "weeks," others thought "months," and other people saw it as "months or years, if ever." Big difference which caused a number of big problems.

My impression so far (which I'll certainly confirm directly if it seems necessary) is that J and I are on the same page in terms of "slowly." We've already found silly nicknames for each other :-) and talked about some pretty serious relationship issues (in a general, "are we on the same page?" way), but we have also both been clear that we're still in the early stages of building trust for sharing more personal stuff. We both think that the ideal LRT (which is what we're both looking for) is one that starts off with strong friendship as its basis, and we're both agreed that we want to share that even if nothing else arises.
